Social Cognitive Safety

Mashup Safety is social cognitive safety. As seen in the diagram, the safety activities are defined as components of the environment -- and they influence and are in turn influenced by enacted employee behaviors and the cognitive and personal characteristics of employees. Mashup Safety focuses on:

• Existing work conditions and hazards

• On-going hazard identification and correction in the dynamic work environment

• Housekeeping

• On-the-job training

• Behavior shaping -- observing and correcting individual behaviors and assuring influencers model safe behaviors

• Developing better safety trainers and leaders
